You do know its bull about the moderators receiving an unlimited pool of gold? they have a very small amount given to them in return for their volunteering services, mods still have to pay for gold like normal users and a lot of them need to after the small amount has run out.

Wow. Thru independent sources ive learned that some mods get 4500 gold a month and some only get 2000-2500 gold a month.

Assuming you use 1000 gold a month to keep all 5 advisors running you have anywhere from 20-60 extra culture points. Not to mention easier start up periods in the begginging of the worlds since you can use he 20 gold construcion thing

I Pretty much thought that all higher ranked players deserved some sort of respect before but with this info im surprised the top 5 of every world is not made up of moderators. I know id be rank 1 on any world i play in by a long shot if this advantage was given to me. I dont think any other players spend this much money on grepo.

Regarding The Iceman, as the alpha in game mod I can personally guarantee that he doesn’t have it running 24/7.

Please, Look at say Eta, there are 8 of us (staff) playing there I believe, yet look at the top 12.

First off, I never made such a comment, so please, if you are speaking to me, speak to me about things that I have personally said or done. Yes, certainly the Grepolis mods get a lot of flack. Grepolis forum moderators are paid by InnoGames to get that flack and deal with it in an adult manner. The pay ranges from 2k to 5k gold per month by InnoGames. Based on your actions, it appears that you believe that the Grepolis moderation staff are paid to act in a professional manner and that the professional manner includes slandering players both in and outside of the game, reacting in a highly charged fashion when information about the paid status of the moderation staff is revealed and coumpounding this situation by using the term Grepolis frequently so as to move this webpage up on the Google rankings for many others to find. As an InnoGames representative, anything that is said about any of the InnoGames products anywhere, by a paid representative is essentially advertising and reflective on the quality of both the Grepolis game and its staff.

In my opinion, the proper paid to perform manner does not include attacking people for what someone else has said, what they say or responding in a non-logical and non-consistant manner. Handing out bans right and left as well as removing posts which simply said, morale was still in place but toned down is overzealous moderation. It did occur and if you’d like I am more than happy to resurrect screen shots of some of the deleted posts to show their nature. If that statement about morale in Grepolis was incorrect, a posting by someone with authority from the InnoGames staff would have resolved the issue. Deleting it as well as the multiple postings which showed nothing more than a single island screen shot taken from the game, asking if this was what the developers had intended simply reinforces the fact that both morale and the isolated style of game play do exist and the Grepolis staff are not being forthcoming with the gaming community. Repeatedly claiming on the InnoGames forum that the moderators are volunteer when they are in fact paid, is in the eyes of most people a falsehood. The amount of pay, while way overboard in the eyes of most players, is not relevant to anything. Overzealous moderation, whether performed by paid paid or not paid staff, is still overzealous moderation performed by STAFF members.

ok first off im not going to tell you who told me lol. Suffice it to say that i know lower ranked mods with less jobs get 2000 gold a month while mods which have been around longer gets more. I think leggy gets around 4000-4500 a month. Tho of course he will just come here and deny it. Now you posted the top ranks of eta i think and you try and justify the fact that mods get 2000 or more gold a month by proving that it doesnt actually help you ingame etc. Well for starters having all 5 advisors at the start for 1k gold a month is a huge plus already. most peope i know dont activate the advisors till a week or two in. Next you get to cut building times essentially for free etc. The fact that you guys arent the top 12 or whatever is really more a condemnation of your own playing skills rather than a confirmation that it doesnt give advantages. I guarantee you if you give mdshare or daxedo 2000+++ free gold a month to spend in the game and you will never see them drop down from rank 1.

wow never knew about this I have been playing grepolis for a while now and have paid for gold but looking at it in a logical manner means my contributation is dwarfed by the moderators pay cheques £20 in game cash is a mental amount thats the equivelent of running 2 world of warcraft accounts and having £2 spare a month and in comparrison of value.. well I’ll let you decide bbut basicly my point here is I would never consider purchases on that scale for a browser game and as such giving in game mods that quantity unbalances the game basicly making it a game for the mods to go around squashing any normal player due to massive advantages over any non-mod player. It makes the average player regret the purchase from the company understanding that they have made it so regardless of our support we could never stand a chance of actually competing with their selected staff.

However, the Mods have a set limit per month, they do not have an unlimited amount.
Mods still pay for Premium, the amount given is not designed for mods to be well off for a month, its a limit that is quite small and moderators still also have to pay for more premium as they grow in the game.

To be honest i think hes lying and 2000-5000 gold a month is a substantial game-breaking amount but if hes not any hes had contact with the dev team regarding thier intent then im scared since i cannot afford to spend 8000-10000 gold a month on grepolis. Thats what 70 euros?

For the benefit of everyone following this thread if 2000 gold a month (20 euro) is quite small how much do the moderators and developers actually expect players to spend on this free game? 6000 gold per month? 8000 gold? remember heftysmurf said “quite small” so the actual amount that they expect players to spend on this free game is vastly bigger than this.

@Uona, you moan about my handling of the morale situation, at least I assume its directed at me given I’m the only mod on here. Did you do as the forum rules suggest and actually contact the forum admin? Or the Co-CM as I have suggest multiple times? As these are responsible for the moderation staff.

I stand by 2000 being quite small, see my previous comments regarding the amount of time put into moderating I could afford to buy 12,000 a week. A WEEK.

@Jumping in – yes it’s 2000 per world, however we are limited to player no more then half the worlds at any time, and those worlds are limited by which worlds you moderate as you cannot play a world you moderate.

Normal moderators cannot hard delete ANYTHING from the forums, it is always there for an admin or elder mod to view and undelete if needed, again our actions are reviewed by the admins, if you have a problem then you can raise it with them.

If you have ever had a response from a mod simply stating you’re stupid I would be less then impressed and would have raised the issue with the Co-CM.

I actually spend more time dealing with ingame moderation then I do playing normally.

Now I know nothing I have to say will stop you leaving, so have fun with wherever your gaming takes you, and remember follow the rules

when a free game expects you to spend money just to have a chance, it is not a free game, when that amount is the equivalent or more than the best paid subscription games, its just rediculous
.. browser games need income, understood, but when you say free, the implication is for free and fair…. income should be made from people who dont have the time to sit and click all day (because they work), they should be able to purchase the ability to have their game progress while they are at work, like extended build queues, and limited purchase of goods ability as they have less time to wage war for spoils, etc. … lord of ultima started to address this issue well (still money is power), but stale combat mechanics/restrictions and time burgling city management are the reason it will not survive its second ‘season’ IMO
… when a browser game learns to balance the gameplay, without depending on the ‘choose to pay’ income, we will all be happy to pay subscription fees for a FAIR game, one where i wage war with others for goods, power or just for the bragging rights, and i can say my strategy, or skills, or knowlege of the game is how i won, i did not purchase my victory with my credit card…

I honestly don’t care about the moderators. I just wanted to point out that Grepolis is a really awful game. I wasted a lot of time building up a city over the past few weeks because I thought it would be interesting once I had gotten past a lot of the low level stuff, but it’s really pretty lame. I’m gonna go play snood.

Innogames is not charity. Therefor if you volonteer, then compensation is due, or are all those employed also volonteers and therefor should not be paid? I have in my past been part of several volonteer organisations many of them offered to comp me for my time, which I have declined. So even true charity organsations do also compensate volonteers.

I find this line of reasoning regarding the mods compensation completely uninteresting, I earn more than 12000 gold equivalents (real cash) an hour at work. Perhaps I am well payed perhaps I am not. Those times I have bought gold I buy it in chunks of 12000 at a time, why bother with anything less? It just clogs the receipts. I know many out there are students and money come hard by you, but knowing what kind of abuse any type of moderator gets in more or less any forum, their trinkets in reward is not something to really get all riled up over. I have had a run in with the mods, in game, however their dealing with the issues I had on both the swedish server and the international one has been dealt with professionally and expediently.

As Grepolis is opening new worlds taking on more players I assume the need for moderators also increase, which means (my speculation) that there should be mod positions opening up for those who find the reward for the work a good trade. I think I am going to play on a world without using gold to see if it is true, that I can’t rank anything due to this.

Hang on am i reading this right, ive played this game a good while and have spoken with some of the people making comments in here.
I pay for Gold and i personally dont begrudge mods receiving a reward for their services.
I dont care that some mods get paid for what they do, and i have to admit sometimes they can overact to situations. As it has been pointed out there are safegaurds to protect against this and if you think you have been mistreated you can complain and yes they do listen.
People need to get their priorities right and realise its a game and is there to be enjoyed.
If you break the rules you deserve any punishment coming your way.
Stop being childish accept you have done wrong and get on with it.
As for the post several blocks up, all i will say is if that was written by an adult then you need to get some treatment friend, all that rage over a game.

I really hate grepolis right now.  I thought it was a pretty good game.  I built my city up for about 4 weeks.  Then one of the top ranked alliances who all have premium accounts all attacked me.  Now I have to start all over 0.0
That was 4 weeks wasted.  I didn’t even realized I was under attack from all of them till I got home

There are two major asshole Mods in the game one being Lord Asrael and the other furryicecubes, both are bias both accept bribes to get others banned, funny how one states something is illegal and the other not but neither back one another up. One Mods states he does not have the relevant tools and another does. Grepo has now gone past a joke and has been ruined by a bunch of Mods that suffer small person syndrome, in real life i guess they are bullied and on Grepo they become someone even if that some one is a keyboard warrior!

I find thing with Grepolis very strange indeed, i have come across a number of members who are locked away under her majestys pleasure, some of these names include ubelong2matt who is inside for crimes against children, but although grepo obviously know this through being told they think it’s ok to let him carry on playing regardless. A word of advice for parents do not let your children play Grepolis when there are these kind of people playing the game from inside.

i am upset by the way they treat people, they enforce rules for the sake of the rules to achieve their own petty aims and not to ensure fair play and equality.

Mass exodus? where are you looking. So a few people are leaving cos the got banned.. dirty little cheaters should do as well. The numbers joining new worlds are increasing all the time. Most people want to play the game including me without idiots like some of you cheating and coming on forums like this and moaning about it. Good riddance I say.

And I think the mods do an amazing job. Do you know what the gold works out at? less than $1 an hour! would you work for that? is it the gold you begrudge? if they got pay cash and then spent that in game, would that make you feel better? It’s about time you realised that these people give up their spare time to help make the game better and should get a little grattitude not slagging off by people who clearly have not care about the game other than themselves.

Anyway as this topic seems to be still active, it looks like there are still problems that aren’t ironed out yet.

And about cheating, actually staff playing the world they moderate is cheating as they have a unfair advantage due to the tools they have access to.

i and my son were banned because i questioned the rules on the forum.
i have never cheated, never needed to because i am good.
i have now quit the game for good because it is no longer fun and therefore not enjoyable.
never broke any rules and did not deserve punishment.
do you really think a child wrote this.
how odd!

Tell you what. Don’t break the rules and you’d be globally banned from the game in the first place.
