This is not a practical mission if it requires us to harvest cotton three days after planting.  Zynga should institute a few changes to this.  First, planting of cotton should be required for a mission at least two days prior to this one (now an impossibility).  Second, with the first no longer possible, alternate cotton sources should be proffered, eg, a second type of cotton discovered on the Pioneer Trail, perhaps a long-staple hybrid cotton (native to S.America), or, “Your kinfolk in the Olde Country [remember them?  We had to send them food, clothes, gifts, lots of things in earlier missions and they seem forgotten now] have sent you some of that there Levant Cotton seeds [grown in southern Africa and the Arabian Peninsula] for to make up some warm garments”.  This could lead to a whole separate sub-series of missions AND a re-connection with “The Olde Country” by requiring us to send more gear to the far off kinfolk.  Or, third, perhaps the “Cotton Thread” is really made from the fur of Moose, Llamas, or Reindeer (remember THEM from last year?), providing other mission opportunities that tie in with the holiday season and a reason to keep those animals around the Frontier.  Those are my top of the head thoughts on this.  What do you think?

Does it only work from your own cotton? I have tried neighbors who are no longer playing; but so far nothing

This article should have said that we need to plant cotton to get cotton thread. Than we could plan ahead. Luckily I a friend told me this and i planted cotton 2 days ago. So one day left :)
